St Germain de Confolens
About 5 kms from Availles Limouzine situated on the Vienne river

Looking across the river from St Radegonde you see a town huddled under the brooding presence of the old castle of St germain de Confolens.
You can walk around the castle and sample the delights of this pretty town. And there is plenty to see and do.
On the left of the bridge is the "Auberge de la Tour" at which a number of our guests have eaten and been most satisfied. It is simple but the food is good and you eat looking over the river.
On the right is L'Eau Vive a family run restaurant that is open lunch times but not usually in the evening. Sunday lunch should be booked. Excellent 90F menu though if you like choice look elsewhere.
Also in the town there is an iron worker who makes interesting lamps, an old tannery now converted to a study centre and soon to be opened a workshop and craft centre. |
