Confolens
About 12 kms from Availles Limouzine situated on the Vienne river. It is the sous prefecture of Charente.
It is a beautiful town straddling both sides of the Vienne and it is best known for its festival of folklore and music.

Confolens is the sub prefecture of Charente so has an impressive range of administrative buildings totally out of keeping with its size as a town. These together with the commercial premises and houses go right up to the river banks on both sides of the river..

We like to just wander around the town and enjoy its bustle and look in the shops.
One final thought. The town prides itself on its walks and to find out more go into the "Nature et Accueil" next to the cinema and they can provide you with leaflets about the local walks and things of interest.
